The Pumphouse Educational Museum incorporates The Rotherhithe Heritage Museum and The Lavender Pond & Nature Reserve, and is a unique resource for the local community and over 5,000 visitors each year who make use of its excellent services and facilities. The Museum tells the story of Rotherhithe through artefacts found on the foreshore of the River Thames dating from the Roman era and also houses the "F.A.Albin & Sons" museum collection.
The Peek Frean & Co Ltd 1857 - 1989: the only permanent collection of PF artefacts exhibits the wedding cake of Queen Elizabeth 11 and provides P.F. History talks for visitors. "Artefacts from Twentieth Century Homes" and "The Blitz Room" bring nostalgic thoughts and "The 1950's" display has a working jukebox holding 100 authentic 45RPM records that guarantees a smile.
For schools: KS1-3 Geography, Science, History and Environmental Education. For Families: Seasonal Environmental workshops " For Pensioners: Archaeology, Watercolour painting " Reminiscence Communication and Interaction: for older people with dementia related illness and their carers. Workshops, sessions and training provided. Young Archaeologist Club: monthly club for 9-16 year olds to learn a sense of time and place. " Rotherhithe Heritage Museum: Visits with refreshments for organised groups and Residential Care Homes.
