Bede runs several services, these consist of:
Become involved. This year 92 individuals did and these are the results:
26 were café trainees and they served on average 127 customers a week in the Bede cafe
Offers practical and emotional help to enable clients to live more safely. A new programme offers extra help for children affected by domestic violence. Also health visitors and other professional staff training is provided to assist recognition of the early signs of domestic violence.
There is also a new service which provides support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans victims of violence from partners or of hate crime in the community.
Bede has a number of youth clubs for young people between the ages of 11 - 19, offering adventure and social activities.They also undertake detached work on the streets on some local estates and around Rotherhithe Library.
Bede helps individuals to get more involved in community life in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe. They offer advice to community groups, run drop in sessions where people can make friends and learn new skills like film making. They also run community events and information stalls and work with local residents, for example, to reopen a derelict World War II bombsite as the Aspinden Nature Garden.
Bede also helps the wider community in other ways too such as the Ileys Supplementary School for Somali refugee families which teaches more than 60 children at Bede Centre at weekends.
